The Department of Immunology and Medicine was founded in 1971. Prof. Kanda organized the Department of Immunology and Medicine as the first chair between 1971 and 1990. Followed by him, Prof. Sakane (the second chair: 1991-2000) and Prof. Suzuki (the third char: 2000-2022) built on the base of basic research. Dr. Miyabe is appointed to be a professor and the fourth chair of Immunology and Medicine on April 2022. My lab is focused on understanding how the migratory behavior of leukocytes is controlled by several types of chemoattractant and adhesion molecules in diseases and how the behavior of leukocytes in the tissue is correlated with the altered microenvironment in organ.
